ANNOUNCEMENTS and COMING EVENTS

  • As sunset turned to twilight over Lake Michigan last evening, (Thursday, February 16), Stanislav Pronin, delighted a standing room only audience at Michigan Shores Cooperative with 30 minutes of amazing violin performances.  "Stans" introduced each piece he played to the audience, shared his background and that of his instrument with us, exhibited a playful sense of humor and an incredible amount of energy for the evening...especially since this was his 3rd performance of the day!

Mr. Pronin is truly an exceptional musical personality.

Born in Moscow, Mr. Pronin can trace his musical lineage to the great school of Odessa trained violinists. His first teacher was his grandfather, Veniamin Pronin, who was a professor of violin at the Odessa Conservatory and a pupil of the renowned pedagogue Pyotr Stoliarsky, teacher of David Oistrakh and Nathan Milstein. Among his grandfather’s close friends and colleagues were violinist Leonid Kogan, pianist Emil Gilels and the great Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich.

We sincerely thank Jim Bruno, of Traverse City as well as Jim Murray and Shirley McDaniel of Michigan Shores for arranging this local performance! Northern Michigan residents who would like to see more of Stanislav Pronin should plan to attend his full concert this Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at the Dennos Museum Center on the campus of NMC in Traverse City.
